Annual Commemoration

The University of Copenhagen was founded in 1479. Ever since, the University has celebrated its foundation with an annual commemoration. 

The commemoration is held on the second Friday in November and attended by members of the Danish Royal Family. It consists of a ceremony in the afternoon in the University's ceremonial hall at Frue Plads and an evening event organised together with an external partner. 

Annual Commemoration for UCPH alumni

Every year, the UCPH alumni network tries to get some lucky alumni tickets to the evening event at the Annual Commemoration. In 2025 the evening event took place at the Opera House, where the guests could enjoy the two Italian operas Cavalleria Rusticana og Pagliacci.
