Maersk Tower Inauguration


The University of Copenhagen's newest building was inaugurated on the 18th of January. Her Royal Highness the Queen Margrethe II was part of the official guests along with representatives from Maersk, the Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation and the architectural firm CF Møller


The tower will expand and enhance the field of Danish, medical research. The 75 meter high tower will house six different research groups along with facilities for lectures and studying. All the facilities are on the cutting edge of both technological and architectural design.

The immaculate view from the 15th floor will be opened to the public later this year whilst the research groups and student will move in February. The tower has been six years in the making. The vision won an architectural competition in 2010 and the construction started in 2012. 

The building in primarily designed by C. F. Møller whilst the sorrounding recreational spaces are designed by SLA. The building is very energy efficient and makes use of renewable energy.
